On The Water
The Colorado River is the life blood of the
Laughlin area, offering a host of recreation opportunities,
from boating and fishing to waterskiing, wakeboarding, personal
watercraft, leisurely riverboat cruises and speedy jet boat
tours. Locally, you can cruise the river on a yacht or a
paddle wheeler while you enjoy dinner and look out at Laughlin's
skyline. Or, get in on the action - tour the river from
Laughlin south to Lake Havasu on a speedy jet tour boat
or personal watercraft. Visitors can rent kayaks, personal
watercraft or fishing boats right along the Laughlin River
Walk.

The Laughlin Bay, a large lagoon on the Colorado
River just south of the casino area, offers fishing and
sandy beaches, with launch ramps provided at the Laughlin
Bay Marina and Bayshore Inn. The calmer waters of the bay
offer habitat to a variety of wildlife including beaver,
raccoon, bobcat and waterfowl. Throughout the lagoon, which
is protected by the Nevada State Lands system, boaters are
asked to observe a 5 mph speed limit and several areas are
off-limit to motorized craft. The bay's fishing claim to
fame is the Nevada state record bluegill, caught in 2004
and weighing in at 2 pounds, 3 ounces. Laughlin Bay Marina
features 110 boat slips, a fuel dock, store, restaurant
and cocktail lounge, plus a climate-controlled dry storage
facility. Just south of the Laughlin Bay is Big Bend of
the Colorado River State Park, featuring a launch ramp,
restroom facilities, sandy beaches and waterfront ramadas
with picnic tables and barbecues.
Lake Mohave, located just north of Laughlin
inside the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, is a 67-mile-long
playground offering broad expanses of water and hundreds
of miles of sandy beaches and secluded coves. Watercraft
rentals of all kinds - including fishing boats, patio boats,
plush houseboats and personal watercraft- are available
at Katherine Landing, only two miles north of Davis Dam.
Sports fishing is another of the region's claims to fame,
with the world record striped bass - weighing in at nearly
68 pounds - caught in Lake Mohave. Trout, several species
of bass, catfish, crappie and other sporting fish are abundant
in the River and Lake.
