University of Nevada Cooperative
Extension (UNCE) is seeking candidates for a full-time academic
tenure track faculty for Laughlin Nevada. The Extension Educator
is a leader in non-formal, issue-based community education and
faculty member representing University of Nevada Cooperative Extension.
This is a new position that will serve the communities of Laughlin,
Searchlight, Cal-Nev-Ari, Palm Garden and the Fort Mojave Indian
Tribe. This position will provide leadership in assessing knowledge
needs and creating and implementing locally relevant teaching/programming,
research, and community service. The primary responsibility is
to identify important issues and ensure that appropriate educational
programs are implemented and result in measurable impacts. Local
programming will focus on economic development, youth development,
senior issues, health and nutrition, life skills, and natural
resources. Travel within the county is required as well as periodic
state travel. Special Note: It is a requirement for
the successful candidate, upon acceptance of the job, to relocate
and reside in one of the above Nevada communities this position
serves.
The Extension Educator also manages the local
office, supervises staff and volunteers, and serves as the local
liaison with county government. S/he is expected to carry out
applied research, secure extramural funds and establish a record
of publication in keeping with university tenure track faculty
